8 imported COVID-19 cases recorded

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating eight additional imported COVID-19 cases, all of which are asymptomatic and had received two doses of either the Sinovac or BioNTech vaccine.   Among them, two cases reside in Hong Kong. One of them is a 60-year-old man who lives at Valiant Park, Mid-Levels, while the other case involves a 43-year-old woman living at Block 6, Peak One, Tai Wai.   They travelled to Kyrgyzstan on August 20 and tested negative in Hong Kong on the day of departure. They returned to the city on September 3 and their specimen collected at Hong Kong International Airport tested positive for COVID-19 with the L452R mutant strain but not the N501Y or E484K mutant genes.   Both of them had received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine.   A total of 66 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.   For information and health advice on COVID-19, visit the Government's dedicated webpage.
