3 imported COVID-19 cases detected

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating three additional imported COVID-19 cases involving patients who arrived from Qatar and the Philippines.   The centre added that it is looking into an overseas COVID-19 case concerning a 16-year-old boy who lived at Block K of Kornhill in Quarry Bay.   He travelled to the UK on September 6 by flight CX255 after testing negative in Hong Kong on September 4. He developed symptoms on September 16 and his specimen collected in the UK on the same day tested positive for the virus.   The centre stressed that it is following up on the case with British health authorities and epidemiological investigations are underway.   The patient received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine on July 8 and July 29 in Hong Kong.   As a prudent measure, the Hong Kong building where he resided has been included in a compulsory testing notice.   Meanwhile, specified people linked to Amber Garden in Happy Valley are reminded to undergo compulsory testing tomorrow.   A total of 44 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.   For information and health advice on COVID-19, visit the Government’s dedicated webpage.
