Nurse initially tests positive

A Caritas Medical Centre nurse has tested preliminary positive for COVID-19, the Hospital Authority announced today.   The nurse, who works in the Palliative Care Ward, underwent testing for the virus on January 16 due to a mandatory testing order for her residential building. Her test result was preliminary positive that day.   She did not have contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients during her work and her last working day was January 15.   Since she wore appropriate personal protective equipment at work, no patient has been identified as a close contact.   The hospital infection control team has conducted contact tracing and a nurse and a patient care assistant who had meals and spoke with her have been classified as close contacts.   Thorough cleaning and disinfection of her workplace have also been arranged.
